Book of Lists Game is a board game released in 1979 for 2–4 players and 60 minutes per game. It was designed by Robert Engle and its main mechanics are Betting and Bluffing.
Based on the 1970's best seller The Book of Lists. One player takes a card with several partial lists from the book (such as States with highest per capita income (1976), Largest Labor Unions, 7 most popular US Presidents based on a poll, etc.) He rolls dice to choose which item to read. He and the players then bet chips on where the item appeared on the real list. The correct guesser places chips he won on a track. The first player to complete the entire track wins.
Book of Lists Game supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Book of Lists Game is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
Book of Lists Game has a complexity rating of 1.1 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
