Car Wars Arena Book 1 is an expansion for Car Wars released in 2002 for 2 players and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Philip Reed and Paul Chapman and its main mechanics are Modular Board.
Car Wars Arena presents 11 arena designs and scenarios to go with each of them. In addition, two new Division 15 vehicle designs and a large selection of counters (including small fold-up bunkers and towers) are included to make your games more exciting. Car Wars Arena also includes rules for AADA League Combat and Gold Cross Cloning. Like the Car Wars Starter Sets, this book is designed to be taken apart. The inside front cover has two new Vehicle Sheets. The back cover has more counters for your game, including those needed for the two new vehicles. The center counter sheet includes fold-up bunkers (in which drivers and vehicle crew may hide) and tall TV towers. Car Wars Arena is a supplement. You need at least one Car Wars starter set to play. Part of the Car Wars Series. Expands: Car Wars Car Wars (Fifth Edition)
Car Wars Arena Book 1 supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The catalogue lists Car Wars Arena Book 1 for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Car Wars Arena Book 1 has a complexity rating of 4.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a heavy game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
