Dungeon Twister: Fire and Water is an expansion for Dungeon Twister released in 2005 for 2 players, 60 minutes per game, and ages 11 and up. It was designed by Christophe Boelinger and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Tile Placement.
Fire and Water is the third expansion in the Dungeon Twister series of games. It includes 8 new characters, 6 new objects, and 8 new rooms. The English edition includes 2 additional bonus rooms ("P2") that feature new terrain: The Lava Channel and Lava Evacuator. Lava Evacuator: This 4-space obstacle connects to Lava Channels and controls lava flows on the map. Whenever a player has a 5 AP card visible on top of his/her discard pile (last card played), all Evacuators on the map are activated and fill the Lava Channels. Lava Channel: This feature is considered normal floor until the Lava Evacuators are activated, at which point the channels become impassable to all characters, except the Fire Elemental and flying and incorporeal characters [who may cross, but not stop on, the lava flows].
Dungeon Twister: Fire and Water supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Dungeon Twister: Fire and Water is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Dungeon Twister: Fire and Water for ages 11 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Dungeon Twister: Fire and Water has a complexity rating of 3.6 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-weight game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
