Faux•Cabulary: Expansion 2 is an expansion for Faux•Cabulary released in 2012 for 3–7 players and ages 13 and up. It was designed by Matthew Nuccio.
Faux•Cabulary: Expansion 2 includes twelve new word cubes and sixty new cards (with 120 definitions) for use with the Faux•Cabulary base game. For those not familiar with the game, in Faux•Cabulary, players create new words for descriptions that lack appropriate nomenclature by using randomly drawn "word segment" dice included in the game. Each round, one player is the Wordmeister while the other players draw three word cubes at random from the box. The Wordmeister reads a Faux•Cabulary card out loud, e.g., "The compulsion to pop bubblewrap", then each player creates a word using 1-3 of his cubes – perhaps "Bust-O-Ific" – and conceals the word in a plastic holder. The Wordmeister mixes the words in their plastic holders (so that she doesn't know who created which word), reveals them one-by-one, then awards the card to whoever submitted the word that (in her mind) best matches the definition. Players then return all the dice, and the Wordmeister position rotates clockwise. Whoever claims the required number of Faux•Cabulary cards first wins!
Faux•Cabulary: Expansion 2 supports 3–7 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Faux•Cabulary: Expansion 2 for ages 13 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Faux•Cabulary: Expansion 2 has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
