Funky Fungi is a board game released in 2022 for 2–4 players, 30 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Simon Russell and its main mechanics are Set Collection and Trick-taking.
See if you have what it takes to be the mushroom master in Funky Fungi from Ridley's Games! In this card-collecting game that will definitely grow on you, forage for the best fungi to be the first player to reach ten points and win the game. The starting player chooses a mushroom card from their hand to start the round, and the other players must play a card matching the color of this card with a higher or lower value. The card with the highest value of the lead color wins the round, with the winning player getting first pick of one of the cards played that round, the second player then choosing one, and so on. As the game goes on, the aim is to try to collect clusters, or combinations of 2 to 4 different fungi. Each completed cluster has a points value, and the player who reaches ten points first will be crowned champignon! Be sure to pick your fungi wisely, as some can be toxic and played against other foragers! A magical mushroom game for fun-gis and fun-girls alike, it's suitable for ages 8+, 2 to 4 players and has an average 30 minute gameplay. Packaged in a travel-friendly, mushroom-style box, this game is super portabella! Printed on FSC paper and with vegetable inks. —description from the publisher

Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Funky Fungi is 30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Funky Fungi for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Funky Fungi has a complexity rating of 1.7 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
