Lawnarchy is a board game released in 2022 for 2–4 players, 15–25 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Sebastian Marwecki and its main mechanics are Open Drafting and Card Play Conflict Resolution.
Your gardening community "Garden Frenemies Assoc." is selecting the garden of the year! So manicure your lawns, trim your hedges and convince the jury. And if that is not enough to beat your neighbors… steal their garden gnomes and steam roll over their flower beds! Over 50 unique illustrations and over 60 cards that all are functionally different! Lawnarchy is a turn-taking riddle game with lots of tactical thinking, changing objectives and interactive back and forth. Each player owns a garden of 4 starting cards, only a fence separates you to your neighbor's garden. The rules are simple: Each turn you have three options and pick one card, but the possibilities are complex. 1) You convince the jury and pick a jury card from the examination board - these objectives constantly change! 2) You do some gardening, and replace a card with a garden card from the common "garden center" - same as the jury, all garden cards have different requirements! 3) You squabble with your neighbor by picking a squabble card. You can destroy their garden, steal their gnomes, or rearrange their garden. You have to figure out the best move - a wrong one and your neighbor will get ahead! —description from the designer
Lawnarchy supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Lawnarchy is 15–25 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Lawnarchy for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Lawnarchy has a complexity rating of 1.5 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Lawnarchy belongs to these categories: Card Game. Its main mechanics are Open Drafting and Card Play Conflict Resolution. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Lawnarchy are: Sebastian Marwecki. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers.
