Mega Man Pixel Tactics: Stardroids is a board game expansion released in 2017 for 2 players, 20–45 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by D. Brad Talton, Jr. and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Multi-Use Cards, and Force Commitment.
Pixel Tactics is a head-to-head game of tactical combat for two players. Each player has an identical deck of 25 cards, from which they draft a leader. The leader's abilities alter vastly the strategy and playability of every other card in the deck, making the game playable in 25 different ways. In the game, players take turns placing cards and attacking. Each card can activate in various ways, taking on offensive capabilities in the front rows of the unit, or support powers in the back rows. Cards can also be played as orders – powerful single-time effects that can turn the tide of battle. Play continues until either player's leader is defeated. A typical game is best of three or five rounds. Mega Man Pixel Tactics: Stardroids is an add-on pack containing two copies of 11 new characters from the Mega Man series. This is also playable on its own.
Mega Man Pixel Tactics: Stardroids supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Mega Man Pixel Tactics: Stardroids is 20–45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
