NATO, Nukes & Nazis is a board game released in 1990 for 2 players, 180 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Joseph Miranda and Ty Bomba and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling, Hexagon Grid, and Simulation.
World War III as it might have been... An alternative-history simulation of a war which occurs in a world where Nazi Germany survived the Second World War and decided to make another stab at planetary domination in the early 90s. They are opposed by an alliance of North Atlantic democracies. The game is a two-player operational/strategic level game that speculates on the military trends which might have developed had Germany continued to build weapons based on those planned in 1945. Three scenarios and a Campaign game are included to provide a full range of hypothetical options. Each side gains victory points based on 'Political Points' and other objectives (which vary depending on the side played). The player with the higher total at the end of the scenario is the winner... the ratio of points gained determines the level of victory. The game includes a full colour 34"X22" map, 400 counters, charts, and tables. Rules covering all aspects of Modern Warfare (including mobilization, ground, naval, and air attacks, political events, intelligence, and nuclear weapons) are included as well as extensive designer's notes.
NATO, Nukes & Nazis supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for NATO, Nukes & Nazis is 180 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists NATO, Nukes & Nazis for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
NATO, Nukes & Nazis has a complexity rating of 3.8 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a heavy game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
