Path to Glory is a board game expansion released in 2002 for 2 players, 60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Anthony Reynolds and its main mechanics are Area Movement, Dice Rolling, and Campaign / Battle Card Driven.
Path to Glory (PtG) originally appeared as a series of articles in White Dwarf Magazine #275,#276,#277,#278,#279,#284(US). It was meant to be a sort of spin-off from Warhammer Fantasy Battles, to add a little variation to the game. Later it was published as a stand-alone game, though the basic Warhammer rules are still required. In PtG you take control of a Chaos Champion. You are allotted 35 "Favor Points" with which to build your retinue of chaos followers. Available are anything from Barbarian marauders and Chaos Knights to Evil daemons and the foul chaos spawn! Once you've collected your War band you set out to battle against other war bands in a show of might and power. If the Chaos Gods are pleased with your performance they award you with their favor (Favor Points), although they may even punish you, as the will of the Gods of Chaos are fickle and unpredictable...
Path to Glory supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Path to Glory is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Path to Glory for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Path to Glory has a complexity rating of 3.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-weight game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Path to Glory belongs to these categories: Fantasy, Wargame, and Dice. Its main mechanics are Area Movement, Dice Rolling, and Campaign / Battle Card Driven. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Path to Glory are: Anthony Reynolds. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Path to Glory as an expansion. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to an existing base game and usually cannot be played on their own. Check the box or publisher description for the exact base game required, and make sure your edition of that game is compatible with this expansion.
