Pocket Imperium: Prosperity is an expansion for Pocket Imperium released in 2015 for 2–4 players and 30–45 minutes per game. It was designed by David J. Mortimer and its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence, Simultaneous Action Selection, and Modular Board.
Pocket Imperium: Prosperity adds yet another layer of strategy to Pocket Imperium's minimalist gameplay. You must now guide your star empire to take advantage of changing new opportunities appearing across the galaxy. At the beginning of the game, players set the Prosperity cards face-down in a row, which represents the new opportunities and bounty available to those who dare seize them. Each round of the game, the next round's Prosperity card is revealed, allowing for players to plan to occupy specific systems, raise fleets or take over Tri-Prime, all of which reward the player with additional points. Each card will also reward players with additional actions, depending on if they played a command card at a certain time in their turn, representing certain actions being more efficient due to market conditions. Prosperity is meant for those who are looking for more of a "gamer's game" out of Pocket Imperium. It is appropriately sized for a microgame, and offers additional choices at both the tactical (action timing) and strategic (changing goals for bonuses) levels.
Pocket Imperium: Prosperity supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Pocket Imperium: Prosperity is 30–45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
Pocket Imperium: Prosperity has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
