Polar Smash is a board game released in 2016 for 2–4 players, 15 minutes per game, and ages 5 and up. Its main mechanics are Tile Placement.
Polar Smash, which debuted as Igloo Mania, is a game that requires a steady hand! Keep your cool! Don't let the pressure and tension get to you or Parka Pete could fall to his feet - straight through the igloo! Parka Pete has finally placed his last block of ice to complete his igloo. But those pesky penguins have to ruin everything! They're playing a game with their ice picks and pulling out the ice blocks, unbeknownst to Parka Pete. Don't be the penguin who lets him fall into his igloo - or you'll be the losing penguin and Parka Pete will have to start his igloo all over again. A game easy enough for the kids to set up and play on their own, but a fun enough game that even the adults will want to play! The player who collapses the igloo loses, then the player who has collected the fewest ice blocks wins.
Polar Smash supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Polar Smash is 15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Polar Smash for ages 5 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Polar Smash belongs to these categories: Animals, Children's Game, and Action / Dexterity. Its main mechanics are Tile Placement. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The catalogue lists Polar Smash as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
