Rebirth II is a board game released in 2027 for 2–4 players and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Reiner Knizia and its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence, Tile Placement, and End Game Bonuses.
Far from Scotland, the old world fell into greater devastation. Survivors make their way back to their ancient homelands to found self-governing city states in place of the nations that failed them. Lead an Order of Oracles dedicated to serving them all: restore the farmland, settle the cities and uncover ancient mysteries buried beneath the ravaged lands. Rebirth II presents two new standalone maps: Greece and Italy. The tile laying heart of Rebirth remains the same; players draw a tile and then place it on the board, but each map takes the Rebirth spirit into a new direction. Both maps make use of the new City-State system, where the map is split into various self-governing regions. Greece focuses on open-endedness and flexibility. The map features no distinct spaces defining where food farms and energy farms must be placed. Players, through the new "Exploration tokens" system, have the opportunity to modify the map as the game plays, creating varying play scenarios each game. Players exert influence on the City-States, establishing Temples, and scoring a large number of points for being the only ones with a significant hold within each City-State. Italy focuses on the individual powers of each city state. When players place settlements within a city-state, they are able to elect an Arbitrer within that city-state's government, gaining the ability of that particular state. In the meantime, visiting monasteries across the map grants players a blessing, granting them a one time effect. Both blessings and Arbitrers' positions refresh and reset dynamically through player's actions, creating a player-controlled cadence for the progress of play. —description from the publisher
Rebirth II supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Rebirth II for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Rebirth II belongs to these categories: Fantasy, Farming, and Science Fiction. Its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence, Tile Placement, and End Game Bonuses. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Rebirth II are: Reiner Knizia. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Rebirth II as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
