About the game

System 7 Napoleonics is an extension of miniatures wargaming with printed counters substituting for the miniature figures. The scale is 1"=40 yards. One "strength point" (the equivalent of a single miniatures figure) represents 20 infantry, 20 cavalry, 10 artillery crewmen or two guns. Infantry counters are 1¼" wide (50 scale yards), with 10 counters typically comprising a regiment. Turns are notionally about an hour each. The system is based on GDW's Fire & Steel rules (1"=25yards), with modifications for the distance scale and features such as stacking that are impossible with figures. GDW published 15 counter sets, all for the period from 1808 through 1815.

Questions and answers

System 7 Napoleonics supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
