The Waylanders is a board game released in 2018 for 2–4 players, 60–90 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Jaime González García and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Dice Rolling, and Area Majority / Influence.
The Waylanders is a competitive board game for 2 to 4 players. The players choose their 5 team members, plan their tactics and fight against their opponents to get the victory. Waylanders is set in a magical era, when men were connected to nature and to the other races of the world. The exploits and the search for power and treasures became an obsession for the adventurers of that era, who forged alliances and fight enemies to reach places loaded with powers. Select your 5 adventurers among the 20 available, each of them with different combinations of races, abilities and classes. Each adventurer has strengths and weaknesses in each type of combat (short, medium and long range) and in each type of terrain (forest, plain and mountain). Knock down your opponents, accomplish objectives, control the land... Your strategy will be the one that leads you to victory! —description from the publisher (English) The Waylanders es un juego un juego competitivo para 2-4 jugadores. The Waylanders supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for The Waylanders is 60–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists The Waylanders for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
The Waylanders has a complexity rating of 2.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
