Town of Salem: The Card Game is a board game released in 2017 for 4–36 players, 10–45 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Blake Burns and Josh Brittain and its main mechanics are Deduction, Hidden Roles, and Voting.
Town of Salem is a popular online game that got its start on Kickstarter and now we are bringing murder to your tabletop. Here is how it works. Each player is dealt a card, face down by the moderator. This card tells the player their role. Evil roles are able to kill at night. And the Good roles must find and lynch the Evil-doers. During the day, players accuse each other. The player with the most accusations is put on trial to try to prove their innocence. If you can't convince the town, you are lynched at the gallows. You have to decide who to trust and who to lynch in order to survive. You can also change the roles you play with to make the game more challenging and more fun. With 25 unique roles, every game is a new experience. The game ends when one side remains.
Town of Salem: The Card Game supports 4–36 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Town of Salem: The Card Game is 10–45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Town of Salem: The Card Game for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Town of Salem: The Card Game has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
