TradeWorlds: Tactical Core is an expansion for TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition released in 2023 for 2–4 players, 60–120 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Kristopher R. Kycia and its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence and Modular Board.
Description from the publisher: A breakthrough in the Deck-Building genre, the Tactical Core features 60 miniatures (5 unique) and a foldable 18" x 18" tactical board used in conjunction with the Exterra Edition core. This Tactical Core allows players to travel around the galaxy and attempt to "re-conquer" Terra Prime (the planet of origin for all the Mega-Corporations). This game Expansion uses a "King of the Hill" mechanic which allows players to control Terra Prime for a certain amount of turns in order to obtain a victory! As such your opponents must race to Terra Prime in order to try to stop you from winning the game. In addition, players can benefit from the use of all the other Expansions that add onto the game an extra layer for Tactical play. There are a couple notes regarding how certain Expansions may alter Tactical game play (in minor ways)... which will be explained further detail in the rulebook used by this Expansion.
TradeWorlds: Tactical Core supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for TradeWorlds: Tactical Core is 60–120 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists TradeWorlds: Tactical Core for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
TradeWorlds: Tactical Core belongs to these categories: Miniatures, Science Fiction, and Expansion for Base-game. Its main mechanics are Area Majority / Influence and Modular Board. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of TradeWorlds: Tactical Core are: Kristopher R. Kycia. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists TradeWorlds: Tactical Core as an expansion for TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition to use it. Check that your edition of TradeWorlds: Exterra Edition is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
