Vinyl: Seasons Greetings is a board game released in 2020 for 2–4 players, 30–45 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Eric Alvarado and its main mechanics are Set Collection.
The fireplace crackles. The smell of pine is in the air. The family gathers to enjoy each other's company during this holiday season. In the corner of the room, a record player fills the room with warm, soothing tunes from classic holiday albums. The crate of albums is positioned near, holding onto the many memories connected of years past. Family members take turns getting up and selecting an album, studying the cover, and sliding the album out of the jacket to load onto the player. As the needle pops and crackles, the wonderful music enchants the room and seems to synchronize with the twinkle of the lights on the Christmas Tree. It is another Vinyl: Holiday! In Vinyl: Holiday, players will work towards building Christmas trees out of albums. Each album features a sub-genre (Classical, Traditional, and Contemporary), one of four decades (the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s), one of five spirits (Joy, Love, Peace, Hope, and Faith). These album trees are being built by the players to your left and right in the true holiday spirit. Some of the points you gain are entirely in your control with the matches you make with previously played albums. Other points come from the combined efforts of you and the players to your left and right. To further increase the scoring opportunities, each player can sacrifice their hand size to complete attributes printed on each album's gift tags. Vinyl: Holiday Edition will be a game that you will want to play all year round. —description from the designer
Vinyl: Seasons Greetings supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Vinyl: Seasons Greetings is 30–45 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Vinyl: Seasons Greetings for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Vinyl: Seasons Greetings belongs to these categories: Print & Play and Music. Its main mechanics are Set Collection. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. The credited designers of Vinyl: Seasons Greetings are: Eric Alvarado. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. The catalogue lists Vinyl: Seasons Greetings as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
