Beam me up is a board game released in 2019 for 2–4 players, 20 minutes per game, and ages 8 and up. It was designed by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and its main mechanics are Take That, Dice Rolling, and Re-rolling and Locking.
Beam me up! is a simple dice game for the whole family. Everyone wants to bring their pieces up as quickly as possible. With a little bit of luck and tactics no piece remains on the ground. Who makes four pieces float first and wins? Here's how it's played: Each player gets a board and 7 pieces. Everyone is trying to get their pieces up from the ground. They can only do that if they roll the right number. For example, when they roll a double, that piece moves one space upwards. With four of a kind, it's three spaces upwards. But beware: If a player moves his piece 2 or more spaces at once all the other players have to move their piece down again! Whoever is the first one to move 4 pieces over the white line wins - provided none of his pieces is left on the ground.
Beam me up supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Beam me up is 20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Beam me up for ages 8 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Beam me up has a complexity rating of 1.2 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
