Brain Freeze is a board game released in 2016 for 2 players, 10–20 minutes per game, and ages 5 and up. Its main mechanics are Memory and Pattern Recognition.
Brain Freeze is a cool new kids strategy game of secret sweet treats that helps develop important mental skills through exciting back-and-forth game play! In Brain Freeze, two players or teams race to correctly guess the secret sweet treat that the other player or team has chosen. The kid-friendly symbols include Ice Cream Sandwich, Milkshake, Ice Cream Cone, Popsicle, and Snow Cone. Using only strategic thinking, deduction, memory and logic, players make guesses, record answers, and eliminate variables until they feel they can correctly guess the opponent's secret sweet treat. Guess right and Win, but guess wrong and...you got a Brain Freeze! Brain Freeze is based on the award-winning gameplay of the Telepathy board game (Parent's Choice Foundation Recommended Seal and National Parenting Center Seal of Approval). Brain Freeze is an ideal game to introduce strategy, logic and deduction to younger kids in a fun manner they'll enjoy, making the process of learning important skills they'll benefit from in school and life a blast! And with a minimal amount of pieces required, Brain Freeze is fast to set-up, easy to learn, and always provides a fun mental challenge for hours and hours of play that never gets old.
Brain Freeze supports 2 players according to the catalogue. This is the publisher’s listed player count, so the game is designed for exactly that number of participants. Variants for other group sizes, if any, are described in the rulebook of your edition, so check it before setting up a different configuration.
The listed playing time for Brain Freeze is 10–20 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Brain Freeze for ages 5 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Brain Freeze has a complexity rating of 1.5 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
