Dawn of the Dice of the Dead is an expansion for Dice of the Living Dead released in 2010 for 1–4 players, 60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Eric Herman Endres and Mads L. Brynnum and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling and Cooperative Game.
Dawn of the Dice of the Dead is a cooperative horror survival game for 1-4 players based on the dice system created by Mads Brynnum for Dice of the Living Dead. The game adds an epic storyline and a multiplayer framework, as well as new mechanics. Players represent survivor groups who have a limited time to search through an abandoned mall to find supplies and materials that will help them be rescued, all the while fighting off ravenous zombies. Dawn of the Dice of the Dead can be played solo by controlling 1-4 survivor groups, or cooperatively by 2-4 players. As of March 2010, a print-and-play playtest version is expected to be available soon, as well as a Vassal module.
Dawn of the Dice of the Dead supports 1–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Dawn of the Dice of the Dead is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Dawn of the Dice of the Dead for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
