Dead Man's Hand Redux is a board game released in 2024 for 2–6 players and ages 11 and up. It was designed by Stuart McCorquodale and Mark Wheatley (II) and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling, Simulation, and Measurement Movement.
BECOME THE LEGEND Dead Man’s Hand is the fast paced Old West Skirmish game where every decision you make could be your last. Pick up your pistol and posse up with the local Law, throw your hand in with raucous Cowboys, or maybe you’re looking for something else? Join in with a group of dangerous Outlaws and rob the bank or hook up with the crazy Desperados, what they’re up to nobody is ever sure. This is the second edition of Dead Man’s Hand, which was first published in 2013 and has gone through many print runs and languages. This second edition is not a wholesale change from the original, nor is it a remake of a classic. After ten years out there in the world and with a lot of success, we identified that DMH needed a fresh look and a few changes but it’s the same game as many of you have enjoyed these past years. To those of you new to DMH, you’re gonna love it! —description from the publisher
Dead Man's Hand Redux supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The catalogue lists Dead Man's Hand Redux for ages 11 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Dead Man's Hand Redux has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Dead Man's Hand Redux belongs to these categories: Wargame, Miniatures, and American West. Its main mechanics are Dice Rolling, Simulation, and Measurement Movement. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Dead Man's Hand Redux are: Stuart McCorquodale and Mark Wheatley (II). These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Dead Man's Hand Redux as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
