Farmers Finances is a board game released in 2016 for 1–2 players, 10–15 minutes per game, and ages 6 and up. Its main mechanics are Auction / Bidding and Open Drafting.
In Farmers Finances the players are two competing farmers. With changing supply and demand, buying and selling at the right moment, they try to earn the most profit. The first player to earn 70 coins wins the game. The market changes the values of buying and selling by dice rolling after every turn. With a good buying value you can get wheat or animals cheaper, or sell if the selling value is high. On your turn, you have one action in which to buy one good (wheat or animals), sell all goods of one kind, or transform wheat into bread to get a better price and to protect you against the "empty-market". Empty-market rule: If a player buys the last good from the market all players have to sell all their goods for the current selling value. Solo: In the solo game, you try to earn 70 coins in the least turns possible. This game was an entry in the 2016 9-card nanogame PNP design contest. Components: 9 Cards 4x Wheat/Bread 2x Animals 2x Money tracking cards 1x Market 1 Rules
Farmers Finances supports 1–2 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Farmers Finances is 10–15 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Farmers Finances for ages 6 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Farmers Finances has a complexity rating of 1.1 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
