Isle of Skye: Druids is an expansion for Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King released in 2018 for 2–5 players, 60–75 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Alexander Pfister and Andreas Pelikan and its main mechanics are Set Collection, Auction / Bidding, and Tile Placement.
One cannot win the struggle for dominance over the island without powerful allies. As every wise king knows, power is not measured in strength and gold alone. Having the support of the spiritual leaders of the country can be the decisive factor. Win the druids over to your cause, and harness the power of their mystical sacred sites for your benefit! Isle of Skye: Druids, the second expansion for Isle of Skye, can be played with the base game on its own or with the base game and the Journeyman expansion. This expansion splits the buying phase (phase 4) into two buying sessions. With your first purchase, you can buy a tile from your fellow players in the usual manner. For your second purchase, you can buy a tile from the dolmen board. These "druid" tiles are normal landscape tiles, except that they will often bear a stone tablet or a scroll. Stone tablets grant special powers that you can use until the end of the game, while scrolls are subject to the usual rules of the base game. New scoring tiles offer further variability.
Isle of Skye: Druids supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Isle of Skye: Druids is 60–75 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Isle of Skye: Druids for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Isle of Skye: Druids has a complexity rating of 2.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
