La guerre de Cent Ans is a board game released in 2025 for 2–4 players, 90–180 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Arnaud de Peretti and its main mechanics are Die Icon Resolution, Card Play Conflict Resolution, and Movement Points.
The Hundred Years' War was a highly complex conflict in terms of its duration, the many players involved and the succession of wars and truces over a very long period of 116 years! Chevauchee, pitched battles, sieges, ambushes, looting, assassinations and betrayals were all part of the story. So it was a challenge to simulate this complex, non-linear war. Few games exist on this subject. We chose to design the game on a strategic scale, while maintaining its excellent playability. Choices had to be made, and not all the details dear to historians will be there, but you'll be immersed in the medieval atmosphere and feel the epic breath of your rides in late medieval France. La guerre de Cent Ans ("The Hundred Years' War") is designed for 2 to 4 players: with 4, each player takes control of one faction; with 2, each player takes control of both factions on the same side; with 3, one player takes control of both factions on one side, while the remaining players each take control of one faction on the other side.
La guerre de Cent Ans supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for La guerre de Cent Ans is 90–180 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists La guerre de Cent Ans for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
La guerre de Cent Ans has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
