Legends of Novus is a board game released in 2019 for 1–5 players, 45–90 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Wesley Woodbury and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Dice Rolling, and Campaign / Battle Card Driven.
Legends of Novus is a fantasy adventure game, placing you in control of a heroic character who is embarking on a journey across the mythical world of Novus in an effort to help rid the world of powerful creatures who are terrorizing the lands... The game is designed for 1-5 players, ages 13+, and takes between 60 to 90 minutes to play (less for Solo play). The game has a combination of a physical character sheet and card based equipment attached to it. The variety of initial characters, and classes they can advance to make the game re-playable with a different game play experience each time. The world story, and the ability to navigate the world with a free roam aspect (and no dice rolling controlling how far or where you can travel to), gives the players a strong sense of control over their fate. The multiple paths to gaining XP also give the players a chance to explore different character strengths and game strategies in their goal to become a Legend of Novus. —description from the publisher
Legends of Novus supports 1–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Legends of Novus is 45–90 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Legends of Novus for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Legends of Novus has a complexity rating of 1.8 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
