Monumental: Lost Kingdoms is an expansion for Monumental released in 2020 for 1–5 players, 90–120 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Matthew Dunstan and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Hand Management, and Set Collection.
The “Lost Kingdoms” civilization box is the perfect expansion to Monumental with 4 new Civilizations: Aztecs, Mughals, Amazons and Atlanteans (all perfectly compatible with the 5 Core civilizations) as well as more terrain tiles with new environments (desert, jungle, islands, Aztec pyramids) to enable an all-new 5 players mode! In “Lost Kingdoms” each civilization comes with its own deck of cards including cultural policies, Knowledge and Buildings as well as new very specific Provinces per civilization: pyramids for the Aztecs, desert for The Mughals, jungle for the Amazons and islands for the Atlanteans. Of course, these new terrain could be used with or without the Civilization to enhance the look of the board and your creation of maps. Altogether with the Core box, 9 Civilizations are now ready to fight for glory and dominance in Monumental against other players or in Solo mode.
Monumental: Lost Kingdoms supports 1–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Monumental: Lost Kingdoms is 90–120 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Monumental: Lost Kingdoms for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Monumental: Lost Kingdoms has a complexity rating of 3.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-weight game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.

The catalogue lists Monumental: Lost Kingdoms as an expansion for Monumental. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need Monumental to use it.
