Stone Age: The New Huts is an expansion for Stone Age released in 2008 for 2–4 players and 60 minutes per game. It was designed by Bernd Brunnhofer and its main mechanics are Set Collection, Dice Rolling, and Worker Placement.
This expansion to Stone Age was released with the Spielbox - "Hans Im Gluck Almanach" magazine, which was released in September 2008, together with the Carcassonne expansion Carcassonne: The Cult. The expansion contains 6 new huts which are shuffled with the existing huts. A number of huts dependent on the number of players are randomly removed from play, so the new huts may or may not end up in any given game. The New Huts are included in the first full expansion, Stone Age: The Expansion. The huts are: Wooden Hut (3 wood, 3 VP, grants one wood each round) Clay Hut (3 bricks, 4 VP, grants one brick each round) Stone Hut (3 stones, 5 VP, grants one stone each round) Kindergarten (one brick and one gold, 5 VP, +1 people figure) Workshop (one wood and one stone, 5 VP, +1 new tool) Greenhouse (any three resources, 5 VP, +1 on food track) The English rules can be found here.
Stone Age: The New Huts supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Stone Age: The New Huts is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
Stone Age: The New Huts has a complexity rating of 2.2 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Stone Age: The New Huts belongs to these categories: Prehistoric and Expansion for Base-game. Its main mechanics are Set Collection, Dice Rolling, and Worker Placement. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Stone Age: The New Huts are: Bernd Brunnhofer. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Stone Age: The New Huts as an expansion for Stone Age. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need Stone Age to use it. Check that your edition of Stone Age is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
