Viking Raiders: The Fortified Medieval Harbor is an expansion for Viking Raiders released in 2009 for 1–4 players, 2 minutes per game, and ages 12 and up. It was designed by Duccio Vitale and its main mechanics are Dice Rolling and Hexagon Grid.
The Fortified Harbor was an extension designed for Vikings and supposed to be released in 1991. It was never released due to technical issues. General design was almost completed, but the translucent film used for the black line drawing had slightly stretched when passing in a copy machine, probably under the influence of heat. Duccio Vitale didn't have the money to redo all four maps and the project aborted. 17 years later, Buxeria got access to the original files and was able to restore them. The 4 maps that make the complete Fortified Harbor and the various counters intended for the game are now available for sale but the various booklets which were supposed to be provided originally were never written.
Viking Raiders: The Fortified Medieval Harbor supports 1–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Viking Raiders: The Fortified Medieval Harbor is 2 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Viking Raiders: The Fortified Medieval Harbor for ages 12 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
