VITA MORS is a board game released in 2017 for 3–6 players, 15–30 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Shi Chen and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Take That, and Simultaneous Action Selection.
Vitamors, a plagued kingdom, is filled with nothing but woes and desperation. The plague doctor, wearing a beak-like mask, tries to steal lives from the Grim Reapers, again and again, with great effort. Most of the time, his effort is all wasted under the Grim Reaper’s manipulation. However, those who come back to life still render hopes to the people of Vitamors. "VITA MORS" is a card game featuring secret identity, partnerships, voting, and hand management. Everyone plays as a Grim Reaper, with the VITA-MORS coin in their hands, messes up with the plague doctor, and controls the destiny of the people in the kingdom Vitamors. Through voting and exercising privilege, players get to determine whether a character should live or die. At the end of the game, the one who makes the pattern of life and death the same as they wish, will eventually become the winner.
VITA MORS supports 3–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for VITA MORS is 15–30 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists VITA MORS for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
VITA MORS has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
