Wild Cats is a board game released in 2015 for 3–6 players, 3–10 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Jason Tagmire and Marty Cobb and its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers and Player Elimination.
The players are cats heading back from an arrest. There's a Good Cat, Bad Cat and Wildcat in the car. When a scuffle ensues, someone is getting thrown out. The Good Cat wants the Bad Cat out because he's an annoying partner. The Bad Cat wants the Good Cat out because he wants all of the credit for the arrest. The Wildcat just wants to escape. Wild Cats is a social game for 3-6 players. Players are one of six cats riding in a police car back from an arrest. Deal out the cards randomly and follow the rules on the cards. Do whatever! Interrogate your opponents. Grill them (not literally). Maybe you'll make bold statements that coincide with your role? There is so much room for exploration, but remember to follow the rules on your card and don't look at your opponents' cards. As the Good Cat, you need to suss out the Bad Cat and get the Wildcat to also vote for the Bad Cat. If you're the Bad Cat you want the opposite. But if you are the Wildcat, you need to get someone to vote for you, and figure out exactly who it is to create a tie. When you are ready to vote, count to 3 and point at the player that you want out. The player with the majority of the votes is eliminated. Reveal your cards to see who won! Deluxe editions include the 3 cats from Wild Cats: Bonus Cats and 10 You're a Winner! cards.
Wild Cats supports 3–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Wild Cats is 3–10 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Wild Cats for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Wild Cats has a complexity rating of 1.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.
Wild Cats belongs to these categories: Card Game, Animals, and Print & Play. Its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers and Player Elimination. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Wild Cats are: Jason Tagmire and Marty Cobb. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Wild Cats as a base game. It can be played on its own with the components in the box and does not require any other title. Expansions, if any exist, add new content or rules on top of it and are listed separately in the catalogue with a link back to this base game.
