EGO: ID Expansion is an expansion for EGO released in 2025 for 2–5 players, 40–80 minutes per game, and ages 14 and up. It was designed by Reiner Knizia and its main mechanics are Hand Management, Push Your Luck, and Auction / Bidding.
Our journey through the galaxy is long and arduous, yet we find ourselves making the most of our downtime (for better or worse). Each ambassador has many private meetings with their planetary government — briefings and progress reports via space transmission. We also have regular joint transmissions with the Council of the Solar System, the interplanetary authority that formed and funded EGO, where the ambassadors seize every opportunity to outshine each other in front of their superiors. If only those transmissions were the most eventful part of our flights. Cabin fever has resulted in more than one quarrel within, and Space Pirates threaten our journey without. Our quest for galactic power is not without its costs. The ID (Interstellar Disruptions) Expansion features two new modules. The Ships Module extends the journey map with thrilling ship boards featuring new competitive transmission events. The Special Alliance Tokens Module increases the variety of alliance benefits. — Description from the publisher
EGO: ID Expansion supports 2–5 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for EGO: ID Expansion is 40–80 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists EGO: ID Expansion for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
EGO: ID Expansion has a complexity rating of 2.3 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game. The rating reflects how much rules knowledge, planning and decision-making a typical game demands. Expect a longer first teach for heavier games, and use a preparation guide before game night.

The credited designers of EGO: ID Expansion are: Reiner Knizia. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. The catalogue lists EGO: ID Expansion as an expansion for EGO. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need EGO to use it. Check that your edition of EGO is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
