Teufel, Teufel! is a board game released in 1992 for 2–6 players, 60 minutes per game, and ages 10 and up. It was designed by Hartmut Witt and Andreas Steiner and its main mechanics are Set Collection and Modular Board.
Cards with letters in six colors, devils and towers are laid out upside down on the board. You move wooden blocks with 7 holes around the board looking for 6 letters in your color. When you come upon one you place a peg with that letter into your block. Anytime you land on a card you turn it over. You can move through cards that are letters that you have in your block. You can pick up a devil peg voluntarily by landing on the Devil space in the middle of the board or have one forced on you by landing on a devil card. Devil pegs allow you movement bonuses and allow you to land on an opponent. You then give the opponent your devil peg and if you receive 2 they fly away taking two letter pegs with them. Winner is the person who collects 6 letter pegs while having no Devil pegs.
Teufel, Teufel! supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Teufel, Teufel! is 60 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Teufel, Teufel! for ages 10 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Teufel, Teufel! has a complexity rating of 2.0 out of 5 from BoardGameGeek players, which makes it a medium-light game.
