From the publisher: Storm the walls of Rome, lay siege to Jerusalem! Siege and Conquest is a rules expansion and source book for Warhammer Ancient Battles. Throughout history, Sieges have decided the fates of nations. From the earliest Biblical times through the Roman period, the Crusades, the 100 Years War and into the age of gunpowder, peoples defended their walls from invaders looking for Conquest. Cities have held out against invaders for years by stubborn resistance, others have fallen purely at the hand of a traitor or exchange of coin. Featured within this book are the following: SIEGE A historical overview and full rules for siege warfare through the Biblical, Classical and Medieval Eras. The siege section of this book allows you to recreate a full siege campaign using a series of 10 scenarios, or as many wargamers prefer, the option to just move to the final deciding assault! By using the WAB points system, the besieger can create openings in the wall or undermine the fortification, whilst the besieged can attempt to shore up their beleaguered defences! This will allow you to complete a siege game in a couple of hours. CONQUEST Scenarios and pitched battle variants as well as inspirational material for using terrain and weather in games, ideas for multiplayer games and developing your own campaigns of Siege and Conquest. Also included are exciting new rules for fighting in settlements such as villages and cities. These add a new level of tactical play on the tabletop in your games of Warhammer Ancient Battles. A full colour section is included showing a range of fortifications across the ages, armies deployed for battle and explanations of the rules in action! Besiege Constantinople, command Viking Raiders or defend the city of Troy. When the enemy are at the gates and your walls are crumbling, will your army hold? Expands Warhammer Ancient Battles
Siege & Conquest supports 2–6 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The listed playing time for Siege & Conquest is 120 minutes. This is the publisher’s estimate for a full game. The actual duration depends on the group, the player count and familiarity with the rules: first sessions usually run longer, while experienced groups often finish faster. Setup and teaching time are not included in this estimate.
The catalogue lists Siege & Conquest for ages 14 and up. This is the publisher’s recommendation and reflects reading demands, rule complexity and small components rather than theme alone. Younger players can often join with help from an adult, so check the age guidance on your edition and consider your group’s experience with board games.
Siege & Conquest belongs to these categories: Wargame, Miniatures, and Medieval. Its main mechanics are Variable Player Powers, Dice Rolling, and Secret Unit Deployment. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of Siege & Conquest are: Guy Bowers. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists Siege & Conquest as an expansion for Warhammer Ancient Battles. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to the base game and usually cannot be played on their own, so you need Warhammer Ancient Battles to use it. Check that your edition of Warhammer Ancient Battles is compatible, as some expansions were revised between editions.
