The Med is a board game expansion released in 1990 for 2–4 players. It was designed by David S. Berry and its main mechanics are Hexagon Grid.
The Med is a simulation of the campaign in the Eastern Mediterranean during the years between 1940 and 1943. It is a complex simulation of the same order as FITE/SE. But with experience, an extensive Europa library and this package, you can simulate the strategic alternatives open to the Italian Commando Supremo from the entry of Italy into the war through the three years to the point at which the Allies were poised to invade. As might be expected, initiative rests largely with the Axis. The British/Allied side remains on the strategic defensive until late in the game. While it can be played two-player, a better game ensues with multiple players on each side with different players for ground/air and naval commands. Operational commands, such as the Balkans, Levant, Iraq and East Africa, provide opportunities for temporary commanders to participate within the larger campaign. [...] Most components used in The Med are available in the published GDW aka GR/D games A. Counters Available. The Med supports 2–4 players according to the catalogue. This range comes from the publisher’s listed player count, so the game can be set up for any group size within it. Some setups, rules and scoring details may still vary by player count, so check your edition’s rulebook for the exact configuration.
The Med belongs to these categories: World War II. Its main mechanics are Hexagon Grid. Categories describe the theme and setting of a game, while mechanics describe what players actually do on their turns. Each mechanic links to a catalogue hub with similar games, which helps when you want something comparable.
The credited designers of The Med are: David S. Berry. These credits come from the published game data and name the people responsible for the game’s design, not its illustrators or publishers. Designer pages on MeepleRules collect other titles by the same designers, which helps when you enjoy a game and want to find similar ones.
The catalogue lists The Med as an expansion. Expansions add new content, rules or scenarios to an existing base game and usually cannot be played on their own. Check the box or publisher description for the exact base game required, and make sure your edition of that game is compatible with this expansion.
